Betty Pogue Connelly was born in Montreal, but traces her interest in the visual arts to her school years at Fisher Park High School in Ottawa West.

With a B.A. in Biology from Carleton and a B.Ed. from Queen’s University, she taught high school in Ottawa for many years,  as well as internationally: Monterrey, Mexico; Barcelona, Spain; and Doha, Qatar.

In her second career, as a practising artist, Connelly acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University in Halifax and a Post Baccalaureate Diploma from the Burren College of Art, National University of Ireland. She has completed art  residencies at CAMAC, France and  the Tyrone Guthrie Centre for the Arts,  Ireland. She is a member of, competes and exhibits with the Plein Air Painters of Bermuda.  Early last year, she returned from Cornwall, England where she was enrolled in programs at the St. Ives School of Painting.  Last summer she returned to Ireland for a long term stay to paint in the landscape of what she considers, her “spiritual home”

Connelly works from her studio “Pogue’s Lair”, in Pakenham, Ontario.
