Betty Pogue Connelly was born in Montreal, but traces her interest in the visual arts to her school years at Fisher Park High School in Ottawa West.

With a B.A. in Biology from Carleton and a B.Ed. from Queen’s University, she taught high school in Ottawa for many years,  as well as internationally: Monterrey, Mexico; Barcelona, Spain; and Doha, Qatar.

In her second career, as a practising artist, Connelly acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University in Halifax and a Post Baccalaureate Diploma from the Burren College of Art, National University of Ireland. In the summer of 2015 she spent a month as  an artist in residence at CAMAC, Marnay sur Seine, France. In the spring of 2016 she completed a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre for the Arts, County Monaghan, Ireland. She returns to TGC this year for 2 months.

Connelly is a longtime resident here in Wellington West, Ottawa and works from her studio in Pakenham, Ontario.
